Official Veterinarian at the Swedish Food Agency
Do you want to work with animal welfare and food safety, supported by competent and helpful colleagues? Do you want an employer that invests in sustainable employment and offers secure, favorable working conditions? Welcome to the role of official veterinarian at the Swedish Food Agency!
As an employee in the food control unit in central Sweden, you will work to ensure that food companies comply with food legislation. You contribute to ensuring that consumers receive safe food and can make well-informed choices. We are now looking for two official veterinarians for summer temporary positions in the Border Control team, based at the border control station in Gothenburg harbor.
Your Responsibilities
As an official veterinarian at border control, you will be responsible for inspecting imported food from countries outside the EU. A day at border control involves both administrative tasks and physical inspections and sampling of the food being imported. There will also be inspections at slaughterhouses in Bohuslän and exports from external companies in the Gothenburg area. The job also involves regular dialogue with food entrepreneurs, importers, and other authorities, such as the Swedish Board of Agriculture and the Customs Agency.
Border Control Team
You will be part of the Border Control team, which consists of about 25 employees distributed across our border control stations in Gothenburg harbor, Norvik harbor, Helsingborg harbor, Gävle harbor, Södertälje harbor, and Arlanda airport. Stationed in Gothenburg, you will be part of a group of eight people.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has veterinary authorization from Sweden or another EU country and possesses good administrative skills. You should have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, and be able to understand and communicate in English. Experience with public control is an advantage, as is experience with food border control and working with the TRACES system.
As a person, you need to be self-driven and able to make well-founded decisions and take initiatives. You are confident in yourself and the decisions you make. At the same time, the position requires good teamwork skills; it is together with your team that you succeed and develop. Consultation with entrepreneurs and other stakeholders is also a central part of the job, which requires you to be clear and attentive in your communication. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
A valid driver's license (B) is required.
